Employee motivation refers to a company's employees' degree of devotion, enthusiasm, and creativity during the workday. Maintaining and enhancing employee motivation can be a challenge for businesses because not every task will pique the interest of those who must accomplish it. As a result, organizations must try to discover strategies to keep their employees motivated. Employee motivation is critical to a company's success. It's the level of dedication, desire, and energy that a company's employees bring to their jobs on a daily basis. Without it, businesses suffer from decreased productivity, lower production, and are more likely to fall short of crucial objectives.

TYPES OF EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION

1. Intrinsic Motivation

2. Extrinsic Motivation

Intrinsic Motivation

Intrinsic motivation refers to a person's motivation coming from inside. He or she is motivated to do well at work since the outcomes are consistent with his or her beliefs.

Extrinsic Motivation

Extrinsic motivation refers to when a person's motivation is fueled by external variables such as prizes and praise. Some people may never be intrinsically motivated, and only external incentive will help them complete their duties.

WHY IS EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION IMPORTANT

If you image a low-motivated employee, they will work at a slower speed, spend more time away from their jobs, and possibly distract themselves by surfing the internet or using their phones. Most importantly, they're generally unfocused and aren't giving it their all at work. A motivated employee, on the other hand, is eager, driven, and takes pride in their work. They are quick to complete work, quick to act, and motivated to perform a good job for themselves and the firm. (Nohria et.al,2008)

HERZBERGS MOTIVATION THEORY

According to Herzberg's motivation theory, or two-factor theory, there are two aspects that a company can modify to influence workplace motivation levels. (Herzberg F, 1968)

Herzberg recognized the following two factors:

1. Motivating factors: When motivating factors are present, employees are encouraged to perform more. They are the elements that can be found in the workplace.

2. Hygiene aspects: If hygiene factors are not there, employees would be discouraged from giving their all at work. Hygiene factors are the conditions that encourage employees to behave in a certain way.

Here are several motivators and hygiene factors to consider.

All of the personnel are ecstatically motivated and have little complaints.

2. Poor hygiene and a lack of motivation

Employees have few complaints in this circumstance, but they are also unmotivated.

3. A lack of hygiene and a high level of motivation

This is a difficult situation because the employees are both highly motivated and have several grievances.

4. Lack of hygiene and motivation

Employees aren't motivated, and there aren't any sanitary measures in place.
